15 May 2012 [11:26] - TODAY.AZ
All old road signs in Baku will be removed and new ones will be installed  up to the Eurovision 2012 Song Contest.

State Central Traffic Police Department spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Vagif Asadov said that the work in this direction is already underway. "The employees of traffic police carry out activities to replace the old signs with new ones. The Department operates in emergency mode in connection with the song contest,” he noted.

As for the road hooligans, Asadov stressed that the violators of the traffic rules will be subjected to severe penalties. He said observance of the traffic rules is one of the main factors influencing the creation of a positive opinion about the country.

The Department together with the Transport Ministry takes actions against taxi drivers engaged in passenger transportation in the Soviet-made cars, as well as in cars that do not meet safety requirements.

"We encourages drivers to observe traffic rules, as the law on road traffic safety is the guarantor of the safety ,” he said.
