Some 300 new taxis to operate in Sumgait

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport has estimated the taxi need of the city of Sumgait.

Ministry’s spokesman Namig Hasanov informs that the MoT continues taking steps to improve the quality of taxi services.

"Sumgait is already numbering 15 white taxi cabs, equipped with navigators, POS-terminals and taximeters. In the future this number will be increased up to 300 taxis," he added.

According to Hasanov, in the future the decision to renew taxi cab fleet will also touch country’s regions.

Hasanov also points out that despite the fact that the Ministry has decided to remove taxis non-conforming to established requirements from the streets of the capital from May, some taxi drivers violate them. Ministry’s officials take appropriate measures against such drivers, in particular impose a penalty of 100 manats for use of unlicensed taxis.
