The Georgian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the conduction of the Russian Parliamentary elections on the occupied Georgian territories by the Russian Authorities on Dec.4.
The statement reads that the Russian Federation, through violating the fundamental principles of the international law, has illegally conducted elections to the State Duma in the occupied Abkhazian and Tskhinvali regions without a consent of the Central Government of Georgia.
“Russian Central Election Commission opened 12 so called "electoral districts" in the occupied territories. Constituency participating in elections was represented by the segment of the local population, which, as a result of the illegal passportization, possesses Russian passports and personnel of the Russian occupation forces.
By doing so, Russian Federation once again violated universally accepted principles of the international law. The Foreign Ministry calls upon the international community to adequately asses mentioned violation.”
