Georgia attends int'l conference on Afghanistan

Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze is attending an international conference on Afghanistan, which opened in Bonn today. Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at a briefing on Monday that the purpose of the conference is to determine the involvement of the international community in transferring power to the national leadership of Afghanistan and the further development of the country.

Foreign Ministers of the countries which are part of the international peacekeeping coalition in Afghanistan are attending the conference. "Georgia is one of the biggest participants in peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan," she said. "Therefore, it is very important for us to be included in the decision making process, as well as to discuss future plans."
