02 December 2011 [17:10] - TODAY.AZ
Georgian President has today pardoned Israeli businessmen Roni Fuchs and Zeev Frankel serving sentence in Georgian prison, Georgian president's spokesperson Manana Manjgaladze said at a press conference.

"President Mikheil Saakashvili took this decision on the request of the Israeli government and for humanitarian reasons," she said. It should be recalled that the businessmen Roni Fuchs and Zeev Frankel were arrested on Oct.14 2010 and the court sentenced them 6.5 and 7-year imprisonment.

Roni Fuchs and Zeev Frankel were arrested at an elite restaurant during a meeting with Deputy Finance Minister Avtandil Haraidze. According to the investigation, the businessmen offered Haraidze a bribe of $7 million in exchange for refusing an attempt to protest the international arbitration court's decision. Israeli businessmen did not plead guilty.
