Iran says accusations of Saudi envoy assassination baseless

Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the Swiss ambassador to Tehran due to an alleged Iran-backed plot to kill the Saudi envoy to Washington, Mehr News Agency reported. The ministry called these charges baseless.

During a hearing of the U.S. House of Representatives' Homeland Security on Oct.26, a number of the U.S. officials urged the White House to launch covert operations against Iran or even "kill" some of Iranian authorities over an alleged Iran-backed plot to kill the Saudi envoy to Washington.
