Georgia marks 8th anniversary of the "Rose Revolution" on Nov.23. As Georgian presidential administration told Trend, as part of events timed to the anniversary, Mikheil Saakashvili will open new avenue Agmashenebeli.

In addition, memorial to the 40th U.S. President Ronald Reagan will be unveiled in the Rike Park, and the reception hall of the National Library will host a presentation of Center of Freedom named after Ronald Reagan.

"National Movement" and "United Democrats" came to power in Georgia on Nov. 23, 2003, and after which Mikheil Saakashvili became the president, Zurab Zhvania became Prime Minister and Nino Burjanadze - Parliamentary Speaker.

Of the leaders of the "Rose Revolution" only Mikheil Saakashvili remains in power, whose presidential term expires in 2013.

The Day of "Rose Revolution" - November 23 is celebrated in the country with different activities after 2003. On this day, the president also signs an act to pardon prisoners. In 2008, after the Russian-Georgian conflict, November 23 was announced as the Day of Solidarity. November 23 is as a religious holiday "Giorgoba" (in honor of St. Giorgi), officially declared as day-off.
