One dead, one injured in suspected PKK attack in Turkey

A civilian car was attacked in southeastern Turkish province of Mardin on Monday night by unidentified assailants suspected of being members of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), leaving one dead, another injured, Today's Zaman reported.

Mardin Governor Turhan Ayvaz told the state-run Anatolia news agency that the attack took place in Nusaybin district of Mardin and a sergeant major was killed while a civilian public personnel was injured.

Ayvaz said sergeant major Oktay Aydoğan was killed during the attack, while Rıfat Un was wounded and taken to Nusaybin State Hospital. He added that Turkish security forces have launched a military operation to find the assailants.
