EU High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy to meet Georgian president and FM

The High Commissioner of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton will visit Georgia on Nov.16 within her regional tour. She will arrive in Tbilisi from Baku.

As Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said, it is Ashton's second visit to Georgia on this post.

She said within the visit Ashton will meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze.

According to Kalandadze, during Ashton's visit to Georgia in June 2010, Saakashvili and Commissioner officially opened the negotiations between Georgia and the EU on association agreement.

"Under this agreement, negotiations are held very actively. Several rounds of negotiations were held in this direction and we hope that they will continue successfully," Kalandadze said.
