Ambassador: Moldova will not sell arms to Armenia

11 November 2011 [18:27] - TODAY.AZ
Moldova does not intend selingl arms to Armenia. Some media outlets disseminate false information, Moldovan Ambassador to Azerbaijan Igor Bodiu told Trend on Friday.

"Perhaps, that is beneficial to someone?" the diplomat said.

Earlier, Moldovan President Marian Lupu dismissed the chief of general staff of the Armed Forces, General Yuri Dominici.

Despite the statements that the decree was signed to improve military discipline, to prevent violations of military legislation in the future, as the Moldovan media wrote, the reason for dismissing the general was a secret deal with Armenia for arms supply. The scandal has caused a sensation in Moldovan political circles.

It is reported that the matter rests in the artillery and antitank units. These were delivered from Chisinau to Yerevan on September 13. The scandal led to a disagreement between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Moldovan Ministry of Defence. An investigation is underway.
