US attitude toward Iran is not constructive: Lavrov

11 November 2011 [12:11] - TODAY.AZ
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Washington does not have a constructive attitude toward Iran.

Lavrov made the remarks in an interview with the Russian news agency ITAR-Tass in Moscow on Thursday, IRNA reported.

"Cooperation is the only way through which one can resolve all differences concerning Iran's nuclear program," he added.

Lavrov went on to say that Washington thinks that it should impose sanctions against Iran and try to isolate Tehran which is deemed as unconstructive by Moscow.

Referring to the US' plans for setting up a missile shield near Russian borders, he pointed out that Russia is at odds with the US over dealing with world's current affairs.

Referring to the US missile defense shield as a point of differences between Moscow and Washington, Lavrov noted that Russia has asked the US to provide Russia with legal guarantee with regard to not targeting its strategic missile sites by the US defense missile shield.
