08 November 2011 [11:11] - TODAY.AZ
Georgia focuses on economic development, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said on Monday at a meeting with the parliamentary majority.

"Despite the negative economic processes in the world, despite the fact that the Eurozone practically collapses and this, of course, seriously affect the trade relations between Georgia ... our budget focuses on economic development and economic growth," Saakashvili said. "We have experience of 2008-2009, when, during global financial crisis, our country still continued to develop," he added.

President Saakashvili said despite the negative global background, he is optimistic about the economic development of Georgia.

"At the time when many countries reduced indicators of economic growth in 2011, we raised them, and in 2011 the growth we have is seven percent," Saakashvili said.

He said in crisis situation in the region's countries Georgia should "catch" investments from these countries.

"Of course, I do not mean that we should build our happiness on the misfortune of others, but in these circumstances, we should use all opportunities to attract investments," he said.
