Iran predicts oil price above $100 a barrel in 2012

07 November 2011 [10:00] - TODAY.AZ
The average price for crude oil is expected to increase over $100 per barrel next year, Pananews quoted Iran's representative to the OPEC Mohammad Ali Khatibi as saying on Saturday.

Khatibi said the OPEC member states well cooperate to secure common interests, although they might have different points of view.

Iran does not envisage holding an emergency meeting of the oil producers' group ahead of a scheduled one in December, Khatibi told the ISNA news agency on Oct. 30.

"I find it improbable to have an OPEC emergency meeting because there is no emergency matter and the market is balanced," he said.

As for the prices, Khatibi said the fall in the oil price is detrimental for all oil producers and exporters.

Iran earlier stated that it expects output quotas to remain unchanged at the December meeting.
