Turkish earthquake death toll increases to 601

Turkey's disaster management authority said on Sunday that the death toll was 601 following a massive 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the eastern province of Van last Sunday, Anadolu Agency reported.

Turkish Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) said that as of 6 p.m. Sunday, the death toll was 601.

The directorate said search and rescue efforts had been completed in downtown Van, however relief efforts were underway at two spots in Ercis town.
