Turkish PM: Media has great responsibility in further expansion of friendly relations among Turkic states

Media has a great responsibility on further expansion of friendly relations between the Turkic-speaking states, its acceleration and search for future perspectives, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated about this in his congratulatory message addressed to the Second Media Forum of Turkic-Speaking Countries and Communities started in Baku today.

"In this context, we believe the work to expand the cooperation among the media outlets will bring very important results," the letter read.

General Director of the Turkish Directorate General of Press and Information Murat Karakaya read out the message.

Erdogan, on behalf of his people, also expressed gratitude to the leaders of the Turkic states, media outlets and people for the support and aid to victims of the devastating earthquake in Van.

Erdogan said earlier Ankara hosted the First Media Forum, believing that the media will strengthen the relations of Turkey, which owns a strong media, with friendly countries.

"The interest shown in the Ankara Forum, valuable opinions shared at the event and warm environment gave us courage to hold the next forum," the message reads.

"We thank our Azerbaijani counterparts for hosting the second forum and expanding the event. These forums will even increase the brotherly and friendly feelings among our states and societies."

A protocol of cooperation signed between the governments of Azerbaijan and Turkey in the fields of press and information in Izmir this week has become an important step toward the development of brotherhood and cooperation among the states, Erdogan said.
