Georgian new strategic plan aims to reduce unemployment

A government meeting in Batumi held by the Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili this week discussed the country's 10-point strategic plan for 2011-2015.

Prime Minister Nika Gilauri presented the plan saying it is a 'lively' document that will be updated every six months. Discussions will start from next week and last a month.

He went on: "This is a concrete plan. The main goal of this document is creating new jobs and reducing unemployment. The plan is to ensure macro-stability.

"We have a little debt and our aim is to reduce it even more. The total debt hits 41 per cent and there is a downward trend. External debt hits 32 per cent and that too is going downward."

The strategic plan also envisages formation of a Georgian Railway as a regional centre, coveting infrastructure development and in the spheres of agriculture, education and health.
