German gov't to provide Georgia with 75 mln euro

The governmental negotiations were held between Georgia and Germany in Tbilisi. The talks were dedicated to the financial and technical cooperation, the Georgian State Chancellery said on Tuesday.

According to the information, these talks are held every two years. They are an important instrument for bilateral cooperation.

The sides agreed on cooperation in economic development, energy, environment, agriculture, promotion of regional and urban development. The German government promised to allocate additional resources worth 75 million euros.

About 9 million euros will be allocated to support small and medium enterprises producing, processing and selling agricultural products within agricultural finance programme.

About 20 million euros will be allocated to make investments within the renewable energy programme. The program aims to rehabilitate small hydro electric power stations. They are financed through the commercial banks operating in Georgia. About 4.25 million euros as a grant will be used to promote protected areas and to expand their geographic area. About 13.5 million euros as a grant were allocated to promote institutional strengthening in terms of environmental protection.

About $7 million euros were allocated to rehabilitate sewer systems in the center of Batumi.

The German side examines the possibility of providing support to Georgia to implement the project of modern landfills.

An additional 5 million euros were allocated within technical cooperation to support legal and judicial reforms.
