26 October 2011 [10:11] - TODAY.AZ
Experts of the Venice Commission (an advisory body on constitutional rights created by the Council of Europe) arrived this morning with three-day visit to Georgia. They intend to get acquainted with the new amendments to the Electoral Code of Georgia.

Opposition is unhappy with the new code. According to them, the bill eliminated the points of the marking of voters and setting cameras at polling stations, ostensibly because their presence has an impact on voters.

Meanwhile, the parliamentary majority argues that the idea of setting cameras at sites owned by the ruling party, and part of it withdrawn in accordance with the recommendations of the Venice Commission.

According to them, conclusion of the commission for 2010 indicates that the camera does not violate the secrecy of the ballot, but the impact on voters.

Venice Commission experts will meet with representatives of the majority and the opposition. Following the visit, will make recommendations.
