Turkey to complete hydrocarbon exploration by 2023

25 October 2011 [16:00] - TODAY.AZ
Turkey is actively searching for oil and gas on its territory. It intends to complete the exploration to find hydrocarbon reserves until 2023, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz told press today.

He said the Black Sea region is the most interesting and important in the search of hydrocarbons. Major oil and gas companies operate in the region.

Turkey actively searches for oil fields to reduce dependence on oil products from abroad. The recent exploration operations in the area of Sinop were not effective.

After Nicosia began working to develop the shelf near the shores of the island, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Ankara will explore for oil and gas in the exclusive economic zone of Northern Cyprus along with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
