Two cargo trains collide on Georgian railway

Three people were injured in the collision of two freight trains in western Georgia, Georgian Railway JSC said. All three injured are guards who accompanied the commodity train coming from Batumi to Tbilisi.

This train collided with the train with inert materials going from Tbilisi to Samtredia. The collision derailed two locomotives and three carriages with cargo. Within several hours, the movement in western direction was paralyzed, but during this time the operation of the railway was restored.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident is machinists of train going to Samtredia. After the accident, they fled from the scene.

The injured were taken to hospital in Ozurgeti.
