The United State will hardly decide to attack on Iran but any destructive step will provoke a strong reciprocal response from Iran, ISNA quoted Iran's Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi as saying on Friday.
"I don't think that the U.S. will have the courage to attack on Iran," Vahidi said. "Once they decide to, our response will be much more severe and lead to serious consequences for Washington given the highest level of the combat readiness of all Iranian armed forces."
He noted that the U.S. always seeks to harm the Iranian people and authorities and pursues the policy of deterrence against the country.
"They try to reach their goals by frightening Iran," Vahidi said. "However, this policy will never be successful."
Earlier this week, Commander of the Army's Ground Forces Brigadier-General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said Iran will undoubtedly gain victory in all wars unleashed against it by any hostile country.
