Iran's Supreme Leader warns Muslims of NATO and US

19 September 2011 [09:15] - TODAY.AZ
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called on Muslim countries to keep their own originality and not to believe the US and NATO, IRNA reported.

During his speech at the Islamic Awakening conference, Khamenei urged the regional Muslim countries to never rely on the US and the Western countries. He further called on these countries to overthrow dictatorial regimes and to make the "Islamic revolution".

The Islamic Awakening conference kicked off in Tehran, Iran. Some 600 scholars, including 400 Iranians, attended the event.

The two-day conference is to focus on the uprisings in Western-backed Arab countries, namely Bahrain, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Yemen. The months-long unrest in Syria and foreign interference in the country's political crisis are also expected to incite debates at the event.
