Tobacco kills over 60,000 people in Iran

Over 60,000 people using tobacco die in Iran, Iranian Health Ministry’s official Kazim Nedafi told Payam radio.

He said that if no prevention measures are taken, then the number of victims will reach 200,000 people in the next 20 years.

Local media reported that the number of smokers in Iran is 17 million people. The majority of smokers are youth. Women comprise 4.5 percent of the total smoking population.
