Over 670,000 pensioners to receive increased pensions in Georgia

Georgia will begin providing increased pensions from Sept. 15, Prime Minister Nika Gilauri and Minister of Health, Labour and Social Security Andria Urushadze said Tuesday at a news conference.

Increased pension in Georgia will be received by more than 670,000 pensioners.
According to Prime Minister, from Sept. 15, the minimum pension will be 100 lari ($1 = 1.66 lari). Accordingly, the amount of pensions for pensioners in Tbilisi will increase by 10 lari, and for pensioners in regions - 20 lari.

Gilauri also said that all social benefits, which pensioners enjoyed so far, will be preserved for every pensioner. He said that the increased pension will be received by more than 670,000 pensioners and 24,000 people with disabilities. The Prime Minister said the decision to raise pensions was made in spring.

According to Gilauri, pensions in the country increased by 7 times in the country over the last four to five years.
