Georgia, Turkey agree action plan on Black Sea

A delegation of the Turkish Coast Guard led by Rear Admiral Serdar Dulger is on a five-day visit to Georgia, the Georgian Border Police reported.

The visit is held in the frame of the "Agreement between the Georgian government and Turkish government on cooperation of their competent authorities responsible for their maritime areas in the Black Sea" and Action Plan for 2011 of the two agencies.

The meetings are annually held in Georgia, as well as in Turkey.

The meeting of the commission of the Coast Guard Department of the Georgian Border Police and Turkish Coast Guard Command was held at the Headquarters of the Border Police this morning. The commission evaluated activities conducted in 2011, will discuss the reforms taken to the Coast Guard Department, The parties will define the priorities for the future cooperation and will draft the action plan for 2012, the report reads.

The Border Police of Georgia, as well as the Turkish delegation made presentations. The Georgian side provided information about the ships suspected in illegal activities at the occupied territories.

During the visit, the Turkish Delegation will garland the memorial of the fallen for the territorial integrity of Georgia.

The Turkish guests will leave for Poti and Batumi to visit the Coast Guard Poti base on Sept. 14. Rear Admiral Serdar Dulger is planned to hold meeting with the Mayor of Batumi, Mr. Robert Chkhaidze.

The visit is to last till Sept.16.
