Georgian-Russian negotiations on Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) ended inconclusively, Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze said at a briefing in Tbilisi.
"These were very difficult negotiations," minister said. "It is stipulated by Russia's tough position. We make concessions and compromises, but Russia stands as during the battle of Borodino. No step back."
He added that the negotiations on this issue will be continued.
The fifth round of talks was held under the mediation of the Swiss Foreign Ministry. The sides discussed a package agreement to remove Georgia's obstacles for Russia to join the WTO.
Georgia's main requirement is the transparency of Russia's borders with the separatist regions. Georgia agreed to place international observers on these borders.
