Four members of the Jundallah terrorist organization, who wanted to arrange a series of attacks on Quds Day and during celebrations of Ramadan, were detained in Iran, Mehr news agency quotes Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province police chief Masood Heidari as saying.

He said the organization’s three members were arrested on Aug.23 on the road to the Kirman Province. Explosives and weapons were seized from them.

He said after they pleaded guilty, the fourth terrorist was detained on Aug.24 in the city of Khash. Six weapons and explosives were found and seized during his search.

Jundallah (Army of God) was created in 2003 and operates primarily in the Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan, which borders Pakistan. Jundallah uses a variety of terrorist tactics, including suicide bombings, ambushes, kidnappings and targeted assassinations. According to Tehran, Jundallah is linked with the U.S. and UK intelligence services.

The last major terrorist attack was an explosion in south-eastern Iran in October 2009 which killed nearly 50 people. The organization claimed responsibility for the terror act. Former Jundallah leader Abdolmalek Rigi was executed by the Iranian authorities in June 2010.
