So-called presidential elections which took place in Abkhazia today will never be recognized as legitimate, Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
Under the circumstances where 3/4 of the population has been expelled from Abkhazia as a result of ethnic cleansing, the region has been occupied and most of population can not exercise their rights, the elections will never be able to determine the future of Abkhazia, Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said to a briefing today. She said this truth is well known to the international community, and therefore, the Georgian side calls on to condemn this process.
According to Kalandadze, those people who came to Abkhazia in the status of observers should be aware that they have violated the laws of Georgia.
"Some of them fell under the influence of Russia, some went on it consciously, and some do not have real information," Kalandadze said, noting that these "observers" are not officials, but the deputy minister did not specify what countries they represent.
