Iran holds Quds Day rallies

Iranians held solidarity rallies with Palestinians against Israel in different cities on the t he International Quds Day, Iribnews reported.

Rallies began in Tehran and other cities at 10:30 a.m. local time. The demonstrators demanded the release of Quds (Jerusalem) and urged Muslim nations to unite.

Then the protesters went to mosque to attend Friday prayers.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is expected to make a speech during Friday prayers in Tehran and voice a call to release Quds.

After the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Iran declared the last Friday of Ramadan as Quds Day to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people. Every year since, Muslims all over the world have held rallies on this day to protest Israel’s existence.
