24 August 2011 [10:46] - TODAY.AZ
Turkey's Undersecretariat of Defense Industry and Turkish Aerospace Industries Company (TUSAS) have signed an agreement for a project to design the country's first national war plane and jet training plane.

TUSAS said in a statement on Tuesday that National Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz, Air Forces Commander Gen. Mehmet Erten, Deputy Minister of National Defense Hasan Kemal Yardimci and Defense Industry Undersecretary Murad Bayar were in attendance at the signing ceremony.

During a meeting of the Defense Industry Executive Committee on December 15, 2010, authorities decided to initiate talks with TUSAS to design a national war plane and a jet training plane.

Under the two-year agreement, TUSAS will carry out feasibility works.

In the end of that period, a final decision will be made by the Defense Industry Executive Committee for the next phase of the project.
