FM: Iran a safe neighbor for Russia

Iran and Russia are two big neighbors, and Iran is a safe neighbor for Russia, Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said, IRNA reported.

Upon his arrival at Moscow airport on Tuesday evening, Salehi told reporters that although bilateral relations have recently faced ups and downs, as the supreme leader has said a powerful Russia and an independent Iran can complete each other in international arena.

Regarding international and regional developments, Iran and Russia have come to conclusion that they should deepen their ties and expand their bilateral cooperation, said Salehi.

He stressed that potential capacities in the fields of trade and economy between the two countries are much more than what exists now.

Salehi arrived in Moscow on Tuesday evening for a 2-day visit upon invitation of his Russian counterpart.

He is to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday and discuss international and regional as well as bilateral issues.
