Iran, Russia hold first round of talks

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Sa'ied Jalili met Russian National Security Council secretary Nikolai Patrushev in first round of Iran-Russia talks here on Monday, IRNA reported.

Jalili and Patrushev discussed the expansion of bilateral relations between Tehran and Moscow in various fields as well international and regional developments.

The second rounds of talks between secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and the Russian National Security Council secretary is scheduled for Tuesday.

On July 14, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov proposed a step-by-step approach to address the question of the international community regarding Iran's nuclear program.

Under the proposal, each time when Tehran satisfactorily answer the question or concern of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it should be encouraged, including freeze some sanctions.
