The court of the Iranian Khomeini Shahr city in the Isfahan province has sentenced to death by hanging four of the nine offenders accused of gang rape, ISNA reported.
Three prisoners were sentenced to 50-75 lashes and received 5 to 15 years in prison.
Four Iranians who have been sentenced to death were accused of committing violence, while the other three were accused of complicity in the crime.
Two persons were acquitted and released due to a lack of evidence.
This crime has caused a great resonance in society. Because of pressure exerted by society on the police, an investigation of the crime has been accelerated and the verdict was handed down two months after the criminals were arrested.
In late May, 14 men allegedly crashed a party in the city of Khomeini Shahr, locked all the men in a room, and raped the women attending the party.
In June, Iran's chief prosecutor, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, announced that these men had been arrested and charged with an alleged gang rape.
