An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale jolted the town of Faryab in the Iranian Kerman Province on Friday, Iranian MEHR news agency reported. The Seismology Center at the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 02:57 a.m.
No casualties and damage have been reported as a result of the earthquake.
Earthquakes often take place in Iran. The earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale took place in the city of Ardakan (Sepidan) in Fars province on Jan. 5. As a result of earthquakes in 17 villages of the Fars Province, houses were damaged, some houses were completely destroyed, 18 people were injured.
