The Georgian government welcomes clerics if they provide a positive dynamic in Georgian-Russian relations. Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze made this statement at a traditional briefing on Monday, commenting on the scheduled Georgian and Russian patriarchs’ meeting.
She said that perhaps the patriarchs will discuss many issues. "I am confident that the patriarch of Georgia wants to create a positive dynamic in our relations with Russia", Kalandadze said.
She said the Foreign Ministry is not aware of the two countries clerics’ topics of discussion, because the office is involved in this visit only at the technical level.
The Georgian patriarch left for Kiev on Monday.
