Iranian prosecutor survives assassination attempt

Gunmen have attempted to assassinate the prosecutor of Khash, a city located in the Iran's southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan. Prosecuting attorney Fazlullah Shahbazi survived, however, Fars News Agency reported quoting Governer of Khash Alireza Shahraki as saying .

Shahbazi has been attacked three times so far. This latest attack was attempted while he was crossing a Khash city street on Monday evening.

There are several active militant opposition groups, including Jundullah in the Sistan and Baluchistan province, which are fighting against the Iranian government. This province is a major drug trafficking district in the country.
