Iranian police confiscates 42 tons of narcotics

Iran’s anti drug police in the southern province of Sistan- Baluchestan confiscated over 42 tons of narcotics during the first fourth months of the current solar year (began on March 20, 2011), Mehr News Agency reported quoting police chief Hamid Fahimi as saying.

"More than 42 tons of narcotics were seized during the past fourth months, while 232 tons were confiscated in the past five years in the province", he said.

Since the beginning of the Islamic revolution in 1979 until now, 1,560 people have died and 929 have been injured fighting drug trafficking in Iran.
