Georgian-U.S. security cooperation mulled

Washington has hosted the fourth meeting of the Working Group on Defense and Security under the Georgian-American Charter of Strategic Partnership.

A two-hour meeting discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues in defense and security. The parties also discussed the roadmap for Georgia's accession to NATO. Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergi Kapanadze, Interior Ministry official Shota Utiashvili and First Deputy Defense Minister Nodar Kharshiladze attended the meeting.

U.S Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Eric Rubin and Assistant Deputy Minister of Defense Alexander Vershbow attended the meeting. Kapanadze said the dialogue focused on the threats that face Georgia.
