Besiktas refuses Turkish cup won in last season

The leadership of Turkish “Besiktas” sport club accepted a shock decision. The club decided to return the Turkish cup, won in 2011-2012 football season, to the Football Federation.

The club’s leadership said that they would wait for the end of the investigation continuing on the match-fixing scandal and the judicial trial which will start soon, and added that they refused form the Turkish cup till the justification of Besiktas’s representatives at the court.

“Besiktas” club’s vice-president Serdar Adali, the club’s head coach Tayfur Havutchu have been sentenced to pretrial detention within the investigation on match-fixing scandal.

Adali is accused of promising to purchase a USD 150 000 race horse to the leading player of “Istanbul Boyuk Shehir Belediyyesi” Ibrahim Akin before the final of country’s cup held in May as well as money for his weak playing. Havutchu is accused of promising the Akin and the opponent’s another player Isgandar Alin’s transfer to Besiktas club at the end of the season.
