Besiktas football club’s Vice-President and head coach arrested

The arrests within the investigation on contractual matches continue in Turkey.

“Besiktas” club’s vice-president Serdar Adali and the club’s head coach Tayfur Havutchu, who were called to testify as suspect on July 11, went to Istanbul Police Office today. After few hours the information was released that about their arrest. 2 football players of “Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor” – Ibrahim Akin and Isgandar Alin were also arrested on July 12.

Note that the second arrests within investigation on the contractual matches started on July 11. Former President of Turkish Football Federation Mahmud Ozgener, former TFF official Levent Kizil, President of “Trabzonspor” club Sadri Shener, club’s Vice-President Nevzat Shakar, goalkeeper of “Genclerbirliyi” club Serda Kulbilge and the other persons were detained by police.

A number of high-ranking officials representing Fenerbahce (club’s president Aziz Yildirim) and other clubs are among the 26 people arrested.
