Council of Europe to discuss report on Georgia

The Council of Europe's Monitoring Committee will discuss a report on Georgia in Strasbourg today.

The document, prepared by Council of Europe General Director for Political Affairs and Democracy Jean-Louis Laurens is about its fulfillment of obligations before the CE.

It also reflects the reforms carried out in the country in recent years. It also analyzes the judicial system.

The CE makes several recommendations to the Georgian government in this document. One of them is adopting a new Election Code at least six months before the elections. Certain recommendations are given the Georgian authorities also in connection with national minorities.
