Iran elected to FASPPED presidency

25 June 2011 [09:06] - TODAY.AZ
Chairman of Iran's Majlis (parliament) Committee on Education and Research Ali Abbaspour Tehrani-Fard has been elected to the presidency of the Forum of Asia-Pacific Parliamentarians for Education (FASPPED).

The Iranian official will hold the position for two years, IRNA reported.

Executive action to develop education in 48 member states of FASPPED was ratified in a recent meeting of the forum, Abbaspour Tehrani-Fard said, adding that inter-parliamentary ties between member states would expand around the issue.

National and international laws will be discussed in the FASPPED meeting on October 21, so that strengths and weak points of each of these laws would be identified, the Iranian MP further said.

On June 18, the Third Forum of Asia-Pacific Parliamentarians for Education was held in the Iranian capital of Tehran.

FASPPED is a regional organization that aims, among other educational objectives, to establish a framework to facilitate exchanges and meetings among parliamentarians of member countries in order to share information and promote coordinated policies relating to education.
