Renowned Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, a UN goodwill ambassador since 2001, has requested the right to visit Syrians who have come to Turkey after fleeing conflict at home.
A source in Ankara confirmed that the Foreign Ministry has received a request from Jolie, who works for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and added that the government viewed the issue "positively."
It was not clear when the celebrity may visit the tent cities established in the border province of Hatay. As the Daily News went to press Tuesday evening, the number of Syrians in the tent cities had surpassed 8,500.
