Turkey's exports rise 21.7 pct in May

Turkey's exports rose by 21.7 percent to 11 billion U.S. dollars in May 2011 when compared to the same month of 2010, Turkish Assembly of Exporters (TIM) said on Wednesday.

According to the figures by TIM, exports increased by 20.38 percent to 54.4 billion U.S. dollars in the first five months of 2011 over to the same period last year.

Turkey's exports rose by 14.1 percent to 123.1 billion U.S. dollars year-on-year in the last 12 months.

The automotive sector made the highest exports with 1.6 billion U.S. dollars in May. The industry of chemical products and the steel industry followed the automotive sector with exports of 1.4 billion U.S. dollars and 1.3 billion USD, respectively.
