Tehran to host terrorism conference

12 May 2011 [14:11] - TODAY.AZ
A conference on ‘Global Alliance Against Terrorism for a Just Peace’ will be held in Tehran on May 14-15 in the presence of more than 100 experts from 60 countries, Iran Daily reported.

Secretary of the conference, Davood Ameri, addressing the media on Wednesday, said the meeting is organized jointly by Tehran University’s College of International Studies, 15 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and relevant institutions.

"Today terrorism is seriously harming the contemporary world, global peace and justice and humankind’s security. Helping achieve global peace and stability is among the goals of the Islamic system," he said.

The conference would seek, among other things, to cultivate a common vision among the elite on the proper identity and definition of terrorism.

"Many organizations have different renderings of terrorism and the differing versions of this ill have been overlooked. The conference would also address the growing need for a just peace," he noted.
