Tehran to hold classic car exhibition

The Automobile Club and Tourism Center of Iran is planning to mount an exhibition of classic cars at Tehran's Arg-e Azadi Cultural Complex, Press TV reported.

The event, due to be held from April 28 to May 2, has been organized as part of cultural programs that mark the National Persian Gulf Day which falls on April 30.

According to managing director of Iran's Automobile Club and Tourism Center, the exhibition will display more than 80 classic cars from private collections and museums.

"Most of the cars will be displayed for the first time and we are currently negotiating with a number of museums to obtain some of their classic cars on loan," said Fariborz Ansari.

Visitors will get the chance to see various antique car models such as the Rolls Royce Phantom, Rolls Royce Corniche, Mercedes Benz 300 SL Convertible and Mercedes Benz 600.

The exhibition will also display six classic police cars, namely Dodge Coronet, Range Rover, Benz 250, Benz 230, Chevrolet and Toyota Cressida, Fars News Agency reported.

Ansari announced that 20 heavy and semi-heavy motorcycles, such as Harleys would be displayed.

Moreover, he invited private collectors to showcase their cars and motorcycles in the exhibition.

"The Automobile Club and Tourism Center of Iran invites owners of classic cars to participate in this exhibition and offers insurance, means of transportation, protective facilities and special conditions for the cars and their owners," he said.
