22 April 2011 [10:56] - TODAY.AZ
Fourteen Iranian films will be screened in the eastern province of Van at an event organized by the governor's office and Iranian Embassy's Cultural Counselor’s Office.

The event will begin Friday and last until April 28 with the screening of 14 films. Iranian directors and actor Mostafa Zamani are expected to participate in the event.

Van Deputy Gov. Murat Uzunparmak said relations between the two countries had improved with the recent opening of the Kapıkör Border Gate.

He said such events would also have positive impact on commercial relations between both countries.

"Thanks to the event, Van’s people will have chance to see Iranian films that have a significant place in world cinema. Fourteen feature films, which have received awards from international festivals, will be screened within one week. A similar event will also be organized in Iran with the title Turkish Film Days in Iran. We expect that social and cultural interaction of both countries to increase," Uzunparmak said.

"Our aim is to launch Van as a city of culture and arts to the world," the deputy governor added.

Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Bahman Huseyinpur, Iranian Consul General in Erzurum Rıza Kılıç, Iranian Cultural Advisor to Ankara Abolhassan Khalaj Monfared and many guests are expected to attend the event.
