Russia, Turkey scrap visas

16 April 2011 [10:38] - TODAY.AZ
Russia and Turkey scrapped the visa regime on Saturday, RIA Novosti reported.

In line with an agreement the two countries signed in Ankara last May, which comes into force on April 16, no visas are from now on required for trips that last under 30 days.

Earlier, Russians traveling to Turkey, a cheap and popular venue for Russian tourists, had to pay $20 upon arrival for the Turkish visa.

Last year, over 3.1 million Russian tourists visited Turkey, and the country's authorities are expecting the tourist flow from Russia to grow 30% this year.
