CE to send special representative to examine freedom of press to Turkey

The Council of Europe will send a special envoy to Turkey to examine freedom of press, the CE Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland told media.

"At today's meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a decision was made to send the CE Secretary General's special representative on freedom of press to Turkey to examine the freedom of expression and press," Secretary General said.

Jagland did not inform about the identity of the Special Representative and the date of the visit.
