Iran to open passenger voyages in Caspian Sea

08 April 2011 [12:07] - TODAY.AZ
Iran will open public passenger voyages between the provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran and Gulistan, located on the coast of the Caspian Sea, Iranian site shomalnews.com quotes the Ghadir Company director Hussein Gitipasand as saying.

He said it is necessary to construct 20 docking bridges to open passage between the three provinces.

"Opening voyages in the Caspian Sea will provide 17,000 people with a job and reduce traffic jams on main roads between the three provinces," Gitipasand said.

He said that the initial evaluation and research work is underway in connection with this project. After obtaining a license, a construction of the first docking bridge will begin in June in the Noor town of the Mazandaran province.

The length of coastline of the Iranian provinces Gilan, Mazandaran and Gulistan reaches 400 kilometers.
